In fact, we believe it is that famous Papua\/Merauke oud from the ’80s that made waves in the oud community, based on our personal experience.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1297\" data-end=\"1436\"\u003eThe first debut of this find was \u003ca href=\"\/es\/products\/two-souls\"\u003eTwo Souls\u003c\/a\u003e. Its second, a subtle appearance in \u003ca href=\"\/es\/products\/qinan-rose\"\u003eQinan Rose\u003c\/a\u003e. This is the third and last release of the oil.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1438\" data-end=\"1693\"\u003eWorking with oud-heavy compositions is never straightforward. Raise the dose, and projection collapses; lower it, and the impact thins out. I leaned on a handful of materials to carry the profile at full weight—without interfering or getting in the way.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1695\" data-end=\"1745\"\u003eHere is the composition I ultimately settled on:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"2134\"\u003eTwo Souls (vintage Papua and Taifi rose), Wild Papua oud (2019), \u003ca href=\"\/es\/products\/mysore-legacy\"\u003evintage Mysore\u003c\/a\u003e, Tibetan musk, Azerbaijani rose, \u003ca href=\"\/es\/products\/arakan-silk\"\u003eSilani and Myanmar\u003c\/a\u003e co-distilled oud, and wild Khaoyai oud produced from logs over forty years old and aged for more than five years post-distillation. I finished the blend with tonka bean, lending a lavish flourish—one only justified by an assembly of materials like this.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"2136\" data-end=\"2420\"\u003eA good six months later, I managed to source another Oud Rose from the Sultanate’s Diwan—this one firmly rooted in a vintage Burmese oud profile. After a few iterations, it finally felt complete. I believe I succeeded in translating the original Two Souls attar into a spray format.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"2422\" data-end=\"2537\"\u003eThen came the naming. I struggled to find a name that could honor the cornerstone of this blend—Two Souls itself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"2539\" data-end=\"2891\"\u003eEventually, I was reminded of the phrase Rūh ur-Rūh \/ روح الروح (“soul of my soul”). The words became globally etched in memory in 2023, after Khaled Nabhan was filmed holding his granddaughter, Reem, following her death in an Israeli airstrike on refugee camps in Gaza. The phrase stayed with me—until I realized the name had been with me all along.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"2893\" data-end=\"2952\"\u003eOne that speaks to a bond that endures—unchanged by time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3 data-start=\"2893\" data-end=\"2952\"\u003eA note about sourcing SQ Oils:\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"2893\" data-end=\"2952\"\u003eI put my absolute and utmost effort into ensuring that the chain through which SQ oils make it to your bottles is trusted. So far, there are only a few degrees of separation, just a few beads along the chain, between the oud in this bottle (you) and the original owners. I kept thinking: jasmine is leathery.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrom that point, I began developing my own \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e \u003ca rel=\"noopener\" href=\"\/es\/blogs\/approach\/creamy-leather\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eleather\u003c\/a\u003e accord. After many iterations, it evolved into a genre of its own, of which this is the first release. It would later also lead to \u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003ca rel=\"noopener\" href=\"\/es\/products\/castore-rouge\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eCastore Rouge\u003c\/a\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBack to this one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt the heart of the composition lies a triad of jasmine materials: a vintage jasmine acquired from a respected collector in Oman, Night-Blooming Jasmine, and Juhi. Around them sit osmanthus, peach, apricot, and a touch of saffron. The foundation is built on Prachin, Merauke, and Trat ouds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt one stage, the composition became too still and heavy. I wanted to preserve that Night-Blooming Jasmine’s weighted, perhaps slow-moving nocturnal quality. I turned to Kewra and Moroccan Neroli.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe effect was immediate. The composition shifted toward a curious fermented-fruit character—rich and expressive, yet without sweetness. It was a clear improvement, though it still lacked definition in movement. That is what Moroccan Neroli did: it brought air into the composition, sharpened the transitions, and ultimately sealed the blend into its final form.\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eA needed update:\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI could not resist adding a generous amount of breathtaking Italian Jasmine (grandiflorum) that I recently managed to get my hands on.
