I’ve been contemplating taking on a rose project through a color lens. This one seemed like a natural extension of the purple base I used earlier—and one I’ll return to in a few more blends in the future.

Think rooty, powdery purple shades enveloping a citrusy, peppery, green, and fruity heart of rose.

I initially went with Taifi, but based on the amount I was able to secure, I felt the composition needed more rose. I ultimately found a vintage Bulgarian Rose that was not only more affordable than Taifi, but carried a provenance of its own—sourced through a chain of legitimate owners originating from the Royal Palace in Oman.

The result is, quite simply, roses in purple.
