Qinan (also spelled Qinnan, in Chinese, 奇楠, qínán) is among the rarest and most revered forms of agarwood. When I first worked with Hainan Qinan, its beauty struck me—creamy, green, and subtly sweet. Everything I love about Chinese oud was present, though it leaned too smooth. It needed texture.

White Rose Otto, crisp and delicate, provided the natural counterbalance. Geranium’s leafy sharpness and ginger’s quiet spark added movement, giving the Qinan room to breathe. Anchored by a backbone of select Chinese and Southeast Asian ouds, the composition opened floral-woody and softened into a graceful drydown.

Yet it wasn’t complete until I introduced

Two Souls, a vintage blend of SQ Papua Oud and SQ Taifi Rose—around 50 years old. Its resinous smokiness and assertive richness transformed the balance, pouring depth into the Qinan Rose.

You’d be right to call this a Two Souls perfume, but I chose to keep the Chinese element in the name—to give Qinan and White Rose Otto the spotlight they deserve. Another Two Souls creation is still in the works, waiting for the right moment to reveal itself.

In honor of this dialogue between materials, Qinan Rose is available in two configurations: as a standalone—or as part of an exclusive bundle with Two Souls.

This blend had its seed start since my first Ambergris release. It only became ready now. As my late friend and comrade

Tarek Al Ghussein once told me: “Maher, you learn things when you’re ready to. Not when you want to.” This creation is a testament to that truth—born when it was ready, not a moment sooner.

Masterpiece.

Bright lemony taif, incense smoke, and a dry down of earthy sweetness. Stayed on the back of my hand for 4 days. A minimalist composition that is perfect as is.

Gorgeous Rose Oud

Qinan Rose is an ode to vintage rose, opening with a blast of vintage taifi rose, dewy, regal and rich, exemplified by supporting white rose. Ginger and Geranium extend the rose's naturally invigorating and zingy facets, exposing the melange of ouds underneath. Built on SQ Papuan Oud, the composition wears dense and royal with deep earthy green tones. Other ouds add to the signature Kinam brain buzz, followed by incense and honeyed nuances rising throughout the wear. A rose oud masterfully crafted, done right. I had the privilege of adding vintage Bulgarian rose absolute, making the rose even redder and denser, further pronouncing the honeyed notes and adding to the spectrum of roses.

Unreal. The creations are superior to most and qinan is no different. This house generates and exudes quality and craftsmanship. Thank you Maher for your wonderful creations.

Deserved 10 out of 10 perfume

I've been wearing Qinan Rose for the past 3 days and falling more in love with it every time. First of all, to say it's a rose-oud combo is not accurate, it's a rose perfume with oud playing a big supporting role to give it more depth.
it start off with a bit spicy effervescent rose. Then honeyed-like sweetness emerges and stays for a while. The oud starts showing slowly after, adding smokiness and depth to the composition. As the perfumes progresses the oud keeps showing more and more transitioning smoothly, but never taking center stage. In the final stage you're left with beautiful smoky honeyed rose. It lasts well over 12 hours with moderate projection.
Overall, its a well deserved 10 out of 10 perfume for me. Very high Quality material superbly blended. I'm glad I secured a 30 ml bottle for me to cherish.

A Blast from the past.

Objectively this is a 5 star but for me personally its a 4 because i tend to like the heavy and punchy rose oud combos.

Vintage rose oud that will probably be not replicated, to those who have it congratulations.

The smell, think smooth burnt roses on fire in this case the vintage ouds as support role giving the accords. Wearable, above average longevity and projection and pleasant to those around you, then again i am in hot weather and id imagine it will be even stronger to those with normal weather conditions

Kasturi Treat (Bright)

Maher outdid himself once again, just masterclass in perfumery here. To my surprise this is more so a gourmand perfume then musky-cola-tobacco what I was expecting. It opens with a faint cola note but the body of this perfume consists of nutty-chocolatey-coffee musk, underlying in a bed of tobacco. Also very easy to wear and to reach for.

Greatest Rose Oud Ever, No Debate

Pink tones, Green Tones, Purple Tones all dancing around in the air, it’s really a joy to experience. Slight sweetness that transforms into a Smokey/Oudy vibe that is simply regal. It feels thick on skin and stays around for hours making your day that much better. SOMS also made me appreciate Qinan Rose more. Just like someone above this review said, “this is the end all be all” when it comes to Rose Ouds. Job well done Maher!!

Cute rose

A slight sweet scent with a predominance of the rose accompained by a soft touch of jasmine. A light green shade of tea. Later i mainly perceive the Sylhet oud, wich i find consistent with the profile of the fragrance. In the late drydown, a soft and slightly oud base. Good job
