Journal Notes:
This one came from pure exploration. I've been iterating on a tobacco base for some time; chasing a balance between earthy, damp, and sweet. One day I was pondering, would pineapple work here? It did. Quite well, actually.
The pineapple introduced a bright, tart, almost cold fruit character that felt surprisingly at home against the darker tobacco, hay, and immortelle backdrop. To shape that further, I introduced pink pepper, which reinforced the sharp fruity edge while adding its own rosy, peppery lift. Vanilla softened the contrast, while cumin pulled the composition back toward warmth and skin.
Somewhere in that process, a curious metallic facet emerged, something polished, reflective, and slightly sharp. It felt strangely appropriate for pineapple.
Choya Raal found its place as well, adding a subtle balsamic smokiness that threads through the tobacco without overwhelming it. That balsamic touch connects with the small dose of black ambergris leading to a darker leathery castoreum and Viet oud base.
While the composition shares certain structural leanings with the Kasturi Cola base—particularly the tobacco and oud foundation—the story it tells is entirely different, beginning with an unexpected burst of cool fruit before settling into darker, more resinous territory.
